Recently Checkly’s fully remote team of 25 came together from over eleven countries for the team building retreat of a lifetime in Tenerife. From workshops to team bonding, the get-together was a huge hit — read on to find out what they got up to!
As a fully remote team that had doubled in size since their first retreat, Checky’s main goals for their time in Tenerife were:
- To have a good time
- To get to know one another better
- To talk (a bit) about work
With those goals in mind, they opted for a schedule that allowed for flexibility in their day-to-day plans with plenty of time for hangouts, team dining and a few icebreaker games. Planning around a combination of work and fun, they chose to schedule a maximum of two daily workshops before lunch each day with some freetime and an afternoon activity mixed in to get everyone socializing.
Taking full advantage of the opportunities to explore the island, the Checkly team made great use of the group activities available, bringing their full team on a volcanic trek as well as planning a few smaller group activities like wine tasting excursions and time to go dolphin/whale watching.
Their number one piece of advice? Don’t overstuff your schedule! Leave room for your team to enjoy the venue, experience Tenerife and get to know one another outside of pre-arranged activities. With choices available to break off and explore with like-minded colleagues, the Checkly team was able to offer options (and time) for everyone to have a great experience!
The result? An unforgettable team bonding getaway the group is sure to remember long after they’ve returned home.
